To better prepare for this trip to Peru, I recommend a few useful guides and books. As a travel agent, I suggest starting with a general guide such as “Lonely Planet Peru” or “Peru” from the DK Eyewitness series, excellent for maps, route ideas, and practical information about Lima, Miraflores, Cusco, and the surrounding areas. For Inca history and culture, “Turn Right at Machu Picchu” by Mark Adams (an easy, engaging read with plenty of adventure and historical context) and “The Incas” by Terence N. D’Altroy, more detailed yet very clear, are both excellent choices. If you are interested in the traditions related to the Inti Raymi festival and Andean spirituality, look for works about Quechua culture and Cusco as the former capital of the Inca Empire. In Romanian, the selection is more limited, but you can find general South America guides and online articles about Peru, Lima, Paracas, Huacachina, and Cusco, which complement the English-language guides very well. This way, you will arrive at your destination well prepared, with a deeper understanding of the places you will visit.
